So even though my current cell provider is Bell Aliant, I’ve owned a first gen Iphone 2G since before they were even available from Rogers here in Canada. After seeing the ads and playing with my Macbook it seemed like a perfect match so I bought one and set it up as a Pay as You Go Phone. I lost my Bell Razor phone and got a Blackberry Curve 8830. It made me realize just how much more cool the Iphone would be with some kind of data plan. Now I certainly don’t need two cell phone numbers, and I love the Iphone so when my contract ends with Bell in Feb 2010 I figured I would just cancel and sell my Blackberry and leave Bell. I was surprised to learn that the Iphone was coming to Bell on their new network. I think most Canadians were hoping the competition would mean better rate plans. I must admit I really feel Bell dropped the ball on this one. We were already being price gouged by Rogers for the Iphone and Bell had the opportunity to sway a lot of customers but their voice/data plans aren’t any cheaper or better in my opinion. It looks like the ball is in Rogers court to counter with better plans and looks like I’ll place a call to Bell retentions line soon to see what they can offer me to stay with them. And on that note…anyone wanna buy a Blackberry??
I’ve been enjoying the Mac Vs. PC commercials on TV. Growing up I was always a PC. Working for a company that contracts itself to Microsoft to do Windows XP/vista support didn’t hurt either. Yet I still jumped at a chance to buy a friend’s 12″ Ibook. I was attracted to the desktop graphics and figured I’d try something new. It didn’t take me long to find apps that would do what I usually did on the PC and I was hooked. I used that Ibook until the hard drive died. Not ready to give it up yet, I found a website that showed me how to replace the hard drive. For anyone who has ever replaced a drive in one of these machines, you know you should also receive some type of medal/certificate for your efforts! They certainly don’t make it easy! The machine started to fail from a logic board defect so I ended up purchasing a 14″ Ibook with a broken screen. At this point I was confident I was a certified Apple technician and could replace anything! After a replacement lcd screen purchase from Ebay arrived, I had a working Ibook again! With the release of Intel Macbooks that could run Mac Os and Windows I purchased a used Macbook in pieces as it had..you guessed it..a broken screen. I installed a new lcd, bigger hard drive, 2gb ram, and dvd writer and had my current 1.83ghz duo core MacBook. I never did get around to installing Windows on it. Now I’ve been eyeing up MacBook Pro’s but I’m wondering if I really need one? Sure I’d like to have a duo core 2 model and the backlit keyboard and more ram but not sure if I should bite the bullet. I guess if the right deal comes along, maybe one with a broken screen..
